Tom Kennedy



Co-founder of Context Media, Tom has over 25 years experience in media, content and technology markets, and has led strategy, content development, digital change management and industry policy throughout his career.  He has a wide range of business experience from start-ups to public companies.

He has founded and led several leading content and digital companies over the past 25 years including, Media Zoo, Hyro Ltd, Beyond Online Ltd and Brainwaave Interactive, working at the intersection of content, innovation and technology.

His recent clients include Village Roadshow, The NRL, Cricket Australia, RedBee Media, Movie Network Channels, Fox International Channels (FX), National Geographic, MTV Viacom, Qantas, Sydney Airport, Prime Media, Tabcorp/Sky Racing.

Formerly Executive Director Group Digital Services, Omnilab Media and Managing Director The Playroom, Omnilab Media’s broadcast, IPTV and media services division.

In 2006 he won the AIMIA Hall of Fame Award for outstanding contribution to Industry, and in 2007 he was listed in B&T Magazines Power 40 Digital Leaders list.

Tom is a former Commissioner of the Australian film Commission AFC – 2000-2008, and has a wide range of Producer and Executive producer credits across Film, TV and Digital projects.

He has been an advisor to Government in the following areas, member of the Digital Television Advisory Group, member of the Joint Singapore Australia IT Council, member of the Australian Information Economy Advisory Council (AIEAC) and a member of the Australian Governments National Bandwidth Enquiry and  the Broadband advisory Group (BAG).

He was a director of the Biennale of Sydney (2000-2006) an international festival of contemporary art.
